When Caring Changes: A Story of Adaptation and Resilience

4th November 2025

We've published a compelling new story, “When Caring Changes”, written by Mike Hatch, an unpaid carer. The story explores how caring responsibilities evolve over time and the emotional and practical challenges that arise.

Caring roles are rarely static. When circumstances shift—whether due to changes in a loved one’s health, needs, or independence—carers face new challenges, decisions, and feelings. Mike wrote this story because he found very little available about the emotional impact on carers when their role changes. By sharing his own experiences and reflections from other carers, he hopes to provide reassurance and practical ideas to those navigating similar situations.

At Carers Support, we recognise the importance of providing guidance, resources, and peer connection to help carers adapt to new demands without feeling overwhelmed or isolated.
