Redland Green School Shows Commitment to Supporting Young Carers

We recently delivered a Young Carers Awareness session at Redland Green School, attended by 30 members of staff. The training focused on how to identify young carers, the impact caring responsibilities can have on education, and practical ways schools can improve support. 

Staff feedback highlighted some important actions they plan to take following the session, including: 

• Being more mindful in conversations with students – looking out for signs that they may be young carers 
• Recognising that there are invisible or hidden young carers within the school community 
• Checking and asking questions rather than focusing solely on behaviour, which may be linked to caring responsibilities
