Digitech Studio School has been formally recognised for its exceptional commitment to supporting young carers, becoming one of the latest schools to achieve the Young Carers in Schools Award. The award celebrates settings that go above and beyond to ensure young carers are identified, understood, and meaningfully supported.
During a recent visit, Vicki Houselander, Young Carers in Schools Development Worker, presented the award to the school. She praised the dedication of Tracey, the school’s lead for young carer support, who has worked tirelessly to embed the award standards across Digitech. Tracey has played a crucial role in strengthening identification processes, developing whole‑school understanding, and ensuring systems are in place so young carers feel seen, valued, and supported.
Digitech’s approach reflects the strong culture of awareness highlighted in the recent evaluation of the Young Carers in Schools programme. The school has demonstrated a clear commitment to listening to young carers, creating safe spaces for them to share their experiences, and taking tangible steps to remove barriers to learning. The recognition shows how the school community has collectively embraced this work.
The award also acknowledges the positive feedback from young carers, who have spoken about feeling understood and supported within the school environment. Digitech’s efforts highlight what can be achieved when staff curiosity, consistent practice, and a whole‑school commitment come together to champion young carers.
Carers Support Bristol and South Gloucestershire congratulates Digitech Studio School on this well‑deserved recognition and thanks Tracey and the wider school team for their continued work to improve outcomes for young carers.
