We are deeply saddened to share that Mary Whittington, Chair of Carers Support since 2020 and a committed trustee since 2017, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday 18th October 2025.

Mary was an incredible woman. She gave her heart and soul to her role as Chair at Carers Support, and she always led with fairness and compassion.

Mary was also an active member of Rotary and was involved in community projects and charity fundraising. She was also a trustee at BRACE and a governor of University Hospitals Bristol Trust. Before retirement, Mary worked as an Architect and Project Manager.

She couldn’t join something and not start taking the lead, so Bristol Junior Chamber, The Royal Institute of British Architects, the Faculty of Building, Henbury Singers, Henbury Golf Club, Hannover Wirtshaft, Prague Rotary, Pochora Rotary, Katmandu Rotary, Barbados Rotary will all also remember her well.

Mary leaves behind her husband Bob, two children and three grandchildren.

Mary leaves a huge gap at Carers Support. The Trustees and staff feel privileged to have worked alongside her, and are grateful for her leadership and friendship.
