Carers Support is thrilled to announce that long‑standing volunteer Jenny Dugdale has been recognised at the South Gloucestershire Chair’s Community Awards 2025/26, celebrating outstanding individuals who make a lasting difference in their local communities.
Jenny has volunteered with Carers Support since 2022, playing a key role in the charity’s Walk & Talk groups and Carers Breaks service. Her lived experience of caring, combined with her calm, compassionate manner, has made her a vital source of support for carers who are isolated, anxious or juggling complex situations.
Walk and Talk Project Manager Carmen Rodriguez said:
“Jenny brings warmth, reliability and deep empathy to every group she supports. Her presence enables us to run more accessible, inclusive walks and to reach carers who might otherwise feel unable to join. Her contribution is invaluable.”
Jenny regularly supports multiple groups, steps in at short notice, travels across rural South Gloucestershire, and helps carers build confidence, connection and resilience. She also provides home‑based support through the Carers Breaks service, allowing carers essential time away from their responsibilities.
Carers Support’s Carers Breaks manager and newly appointed Volunteer Co-Ordinator, Maisy Jefferies, added:
“We are delighted to see Jenny recognised. She embodies the very best of community volunteering and has changed countless carers’ lives for the better.”
