8th June 2026
Caring can put a lot of pressure on your physical and emotional health, often without you realising it. Caring Matters 2026 is a chance to pause, get practical support, and connect with others who understand what life is like when you’re looking after someone.
The morning brings together expert speakers, honest conversations, and realistic ideas to help you feel more informed, more supported and more in control of your own wellbeing.
Thursday 11 June

This session will help carers understand how GP practices work and how to get the most from appointments. It covers preparing for appointments, who you might see, consent and sharing information, and managing expectations around booking. We’ll also look at GP responsibilities in supporting carers, with time for questions at the end.

Supporting a person with dementia can be positive and rewarding, but it can also be challenging. Looking after yourself is important for both you and the person you are supporting. If you are caring for a person with dementia, then you will know that it isn’t always easy. You may at times feel worried, anxious, or frustrated. You might feel guilty about these emotions or whenever you need to do things for yourself. However, looking after yourself is vital for your health and wellbeing, and will benefit both you and the person you are caring for. We look at the challenges you may face in your caring role and ways that can help you to cope, as well as ideas that you might find helpful and the types of support that are available to you.
The session starts with a short presentation (around 10–15 minutes) introducing Remap, explaining what we do and how we’ve helped people in the past, with a few real‑life examples. This is followed by an interactive session of about 20 minutes, where you’ll be able to see and handle some of the items we’ve designed and made, ask questions, and talk together about how they can help in everyday life.
A carer-specific wellbeing session focusing on energy, stress and sustainability. Practical, realistic approaches that fit around caring responsibilities.
Time to rest, refresh and speak informally with local organisations.
A repeat of the earlier sessions, allowing you to attend a second topic of interest.
A gentle close to the morning, reflecting key messages from the day. Focuses on reassurance, shared experiences, and small, optional next steps carers may choose to take.

This gentle yoga session is designed especially for carers, focusing on relaxation, simple movements and breathing exercises to help ease tension and support wellbeing. Bookings have now closed, but you’re still very welcome to come along on the day.
