2nd April 2025
Carers Support invites unpaid carers and professionals supporting carers across Bristol and South Gloucestershire to Caring Matters, our annual free Carers Week event.
Monday, June 9, 2025
10.00 am - 2.00 pm
BAWA Leisure Centre, 589 Southmead Road, Filton, Bristol. BS34 7RF
Join us for a day of valuable information, practical support, and a chance to connect with other carers.
If you are a carer for someone who lives in Bristol, please join us to discuss how the council’s adult social care departments are making a difference to you and the lives of people close to you. We would like to hear what you think adult social care is doing well and where you feel it needs to improve. We welcome carers of all ages to contribute their ideas on how we can address these three priorities (as set out in the Bristol All Age Carers Strategy 2025-2030):
South Glos Council together with key partners across health, ICB and VCS have drafted our new Dementia Strategy which is due to go out to consultation in May and June. Our new strategy is based on the Well Pathway for Dementia; preventing well, diagnosing well, supporting well, living well and dying well.
We would like to engage with carers of people with dementia and encourage people to attend our 45-minute workshop to share their views and feedback on our draft Dementia Strategy. We will be looking at the key areas of recommendations of our action plan.

Find out about Southern Brooks services, who we are, and what we offer. We will share findings from our most recent community survey as well as provide you with a brief overview of our different services, including Health & Happiness Hubs, Physical Activity Link Workers, and hospital discharge teams, and how to access these services.
This interactive session will give a brief overview of the development and the achievements of the Caring Economy Campaign since its launch in January 2024 and the next exciting phase of lobbying, influencing, action groups and city-wide collaborations because Caring is Everybody’s Business. The session will also celebrate creativity as a catalyst for social change, featuring powerful images of lanterns crafted by over 200 women, unpaid carers, mothers, and caregivers from Bristol. These illuminated artworks serve as glowing protest signs, calling for a fair and just caring economy that recognises and values care.
In addition to these sessions, there will be a complimentary lunch and a range of information stalls hosted by organisations providing services and resources for carers.
Pre-booking is essential, and please note that we cannot accommodate the people you care for at this event.
