Bristol City Councillor Lorraine Francis Visits Carers Support Bristol and South Gloucestershire

28th April 2025

On Tuesday, 6 May 2025, Carers Support Bristol and South Gloucestershire will be pleased to welcome Councillor Lorraine Francis, Chair of Bristol City Council’s Adult Social Care (ASC) Committee, for a visit to engage directly with carers and frontline staff.

As a key decision-maker in local adult social care, Councillor Francis is committed to understanding the challenges carers face and ensuring their voices are heard at the policy level.
The Role of the ASC Committee
The Adult Social Care Committee is responsible for a range of critical services, including:

  • Adult Social Care
  • Safeguarding Adults
  • Age-Friendly City Initiatives
  • The Better Lives Program
  • Support for Family and Friend Carers
  • Ethical Care Standards
  • Adaptable Homes and Intergenerational Housing
  • The Integrated Care System
  • Budgeting and Performance Monitoring

Purpose of the Visit

The visit aims to:

  • Provide carers and frontline staff an opportunity to raise key issues directly with a senior decision-maker.
  • Highlight the vital work of Carers Support and its impact on the local community.
  • Strengthen policy engagement between Carers Support and the Adult Social Care Committee.

This visit is a valuable opportunity for carers to directly engage with a key decision-maker and for Councillor Francis to witness firsthand the impact of Carers Support’s work. We look forward to constructive discussions that will help shape future policies to better support carers across Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
