Loneliness Awareness Week: You're Not Alone

21st May 2025

Loneliness Awareness Week (17–23 June 2025) is a UK-wide campaign that shines a light on something many carers experience but often don’t talk about: feeling lonely.

Caring for someone can be rewarding—but it can also be isolating. You may have lost touch with friends, stepped back from work or social life, or simply feel that others don’t understand what you're going through. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

Run by the Marmalade Trust, this year’s theme is "Random Acts of Connection"—a reminder that small moments of connection can make a big difference. Whether it’s a short chat, attending a group, or reaching out to a friend, every step helps break down loneliness.

Support Services to Help You Connect

At Carers Support Centre, we offer a range of services designed to help you feel less alone:

  • Carers Support Groups: Safe, confidential spaces to meet with other carers—either face-to-face or online—to share experiences and support each other.
  • Befriending and Connection Service: We match carers with trained volunteers who provide conversation, companionship, and emotional support.
  • Walk and Talk: Join our friendly support worker for group walks, offering a listening ear and providing support to help you in your caring role.
  • Carers Break Service (South Gloucestershire): A regular volunteer sitter keeps the person you care for company, so you can take a break—perhaps to meet friends, attend a fitness class, or simply relax.
  • CarersLine: A confidential phone and email information and support service for carers in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
