Carefree is a UK-based charity dedicated to giving unpaid carers the break they truly deserve. By partnering with hotels across the country, Carefree transforms unused hotel rooms into free short breaks for those who provide 30+ hours of unpaid care each week. These 1–2 night stays offer a vital opportunity for carers to rest, recharge, and reconnect with themselves—without the person they care for.
With just a £33 admin fee, carers can book a relaxing hotel stay for themselves and a companion (not the person they care for), choosing from hundreds of participating hotels nationwide. Most stays include breakfast, and the only additional costs are travel and personal expenses.
Carefree’s mission is simple yet powerful: to make respite accessible and affordable, helping carers avoid burnout and improve their wellbeing. Since its launch, Carefree has delivered over 15,000 breaks, with 95% of carers reporting a positive impact on their mental and emotional health.
Whether you’re a carer in need of a break, a hotel looking to donate rooms, or a supporter wanting to help, Carefree offers a practical, compassionate way to make a difference.
