Homeshare West supports people who would like to continue living independently in their own home by matching them with someone seeking affordable accommodation. In the arrangement, the person with the spare room (the “Householder”) offers a bedroom and shared facilities. The matched person (the “Sharer”) provides approximately ten hours per week of agreed support (for example, company, light household tasks, presence overnight) in exchange for rent-free or very low-cost accommodation.
This arrangement offers peace of mind, friendship, added security and practical help — especially useful for someone living alone and wanting to remain in the home they love, while also helping someone else access safe, affordable housing.
It is designed for mutual benefit: companionship and support for the Householder; affordable accommodation plus meaningful connection for the Sharer. Matching is carefully managed and ongoing support provided.
To explore whether homesharing might be right for you, call Homeshare West on 0787 350 7908 or 0781 519 4554, or email [email protected] for an informal and confidential discussion.
They will talk through your situation, expectations for the arrangement, how the match is made, eligibility and next steps.
Homeshare West connects people who have a spare room with someone who needs affordable accommodation and can offer companionship and a little help at home. This not-for-profit service helps older or vulnerable householders stay independent while providing sharers with a safe, low-cost place to live. Operating across Bristol, Bath, and surrounding areas, Homeshare West carefully matches participants and offers ongoing support to ensure a positive experience for both parties.
