The Bristol Elders Groups, supported by Alive Activities, have been a vital community lifeline for more than five decades. These three social clubs—Malcolm X Elders, Evergreens and Golden Agers—serve predominantly Afro‑Caribbean elders in St Paul’s and Easton, offering a safe, joyful and culturally rich space to stay active, connected and supported.

The groups provide:

  • A warm social environment tackling loneliness and isolation
  • A structured activity programme including exercise, Tai Chi, music, sewing, arts & crafts, drama, and day trips
  • Visits from wellbeing organisations and guest speakers covering health, home repairs, finances, mental health and more
  • Space to celebrate Caribbean culture through food, music and traditions

These groups are inclusive and welcome people of all backgrounds who wish to connect, stay active and enjoy community life. Many attendees have found lifelong friendships, improved wellbeing and a supportive community they can rely on.
