YAC Peer Group

Connect with others and find a community.

At Carers Support Bristol and South Gloucestershire, we understand that being a young adult carer can feel isolating at times. That’s why we’ve created the Young Adult Carers Peer Groups – a safe, supportive space for you to meet others who understand the challenges you face, share experiences, and build lasting connections.

What Are Young Adult Carers Peer Groups?

Our Peer Groups are designed specifically for young adult carers (ages 18–25) who care for a family member or friend. Whether you are caring for someone with a physical disability, mental health condition, or long-term illness, these groups provide a space to connect with others who are in a similar situation.

Why Join a Peer Group?

  • Meet Others Who Understand: Share your experiences with people who truly get what it’s like to balance caring with the rest of your life.
  • Emotional Support: Caring for a loved one can be overwhelming. Having a network of people who offer support and empathy can make all the difference.
  • Peer-Led Activities: Our groups are run by young adult carers for young adult carers. This means the activities and discussions are tailored to what matters most to you.
  • Develop New Skills: Take part in activities and workshops that can help you improve your wellbeing, build confidence, and manage stress.
  • Access to Resources: Discover helpful information about your rights as a carer, local services, and ways to access practical support.
