Make Life Better for Carers – Get Involved Today

Every day, thousands of unpaid carers in Bristol and South Gloucestershire quietly carry out extraordinary acts of love — looking after relatives, partners, or friends who are ill, disabled, elderly or living with mental health issues or addiction. They don’t ask for praise. Many don’t even see themselves as carers. But they are the invisible backbone of our communities — and far too often, they go without the support they need.

At Carers Support, we believe no one should have to care alone.

Real Stories. Real Support.

Naomi’s Story: Finding Confidence as a Young Carer

Naomi became a carer for her mum when she was just 10 years old. She worried constantly during school, managed meals and medication, and kept her feelings hidden.

“I didn’t talk about it. I felt alone,” she said.

Through Carers Support, Naomi found a young carers group. She met others who understood her life. She made friends, gained confidence, and even gave a speech about her journey.

“They believed in me. That made all the difference.”

Your support makes stories like Naomi’s possible.

David’s Story: From Struggling Alone to Feeling Seen

David balanced full-time work with caring for his mum who had dementia. The stress and guilt were overwhelming.

“They reassured me I wasn’t failing. I finally felt understood,” he said.

With our help, David accessed support groups, advice, and vital respite breaks. Most importantly, he stopped feeling invisible.

Thanks to donations, we could be there for him — and we want to be there for many more.

Why Help Is Needed Now

The number of unpaid carers is rising. More people are becoming carers overnight, often unprepared and unsupported. Many sacrifice their education, health, careers, and financial security. Without help, they risk burnout and crisis.

But your support can change that.
