If you’ve got an exciting activity or event coming up, this could also be a great opportunity to raise money for carers.
There are no rules about the type of event you can use to fundraise. Some past examples include: fun runs, cake sales, walks, bike rides, birthdays, weddings, bungie jumps, skydives, and even a dance marathon.
In some cases, people haven’t been able to host or partake in a particular activity, but still want to do something to make life better for carers. We welcome that as well.
Whether you’re fundraising for a particular occasion, or simply because you want to help, this guidance below can help you raise funds and make a difference.
If you’d like to collect donations online, please check out our guide on Creating a Just Giving page. If you’d like to collect cash donations, please read fundraising with collection tins.
A Just Giving page allows you to collect online donations, usually for a particular activity, that go straight to a charity of your choice.
We’ve written some guidelines that should help you through the process, but If you have any questions, feel free to email us at [email protected]
We'd love for you to contact us once the page is live so we can share it on social media, our ebulletin and our website (with your permission). You can also let us know if you want the funds to be allocated specifically to young carers, or carers support as a whole.
After the event, if you have any photos or info about how it went, we’d be more than happy to celebrate this and share them on the same channels mentioned above.
If you’re taking collections in person, please contact our fundraising team (see contact details below) so we can arrange for you to pick up a collection tin from our office in Fishponds, Bristol.
These can be borrowed for extended periods of up to a year (eg. if you wish to leave them out in a public place or club), or shorter periods (eg. for a day collection at a supermarket or a cake sale). If you wish to collect at a shop, it’s important you contact the shop first to get permission.
We have tins branded for Young Carers collections and one for Carers Support as a whole. Our tins also include a QR code, which people can scan with their phone to donate online.
As with all fundraising events, if you let us know beforehand, we can share it with our network.
No matter how you choose to support us, your efforts will be greatly appreciated and can make a real difference in the lives of carers.
