Young carers from across Bristol and South Gloucestershire stepped away from the classroom for a special experience as part of Carers Week.
Around 120 young carers, alongside 30 school staff and young carers leads, from 10 primary schools in the Young Carers in Schools network, visited We The Curious and the SS Great Britain. The visits were part of a growing community partnership designed to give young carers the chance to learn, explore and spend time together in a supportive environment.

The trips also highlighted the importance of strong partnerships between schools, cultural organisations and community services in identifying and supporting young carers.
As part of the Young Carers in Schools programme, schools played a vital role in making sure young carers were recognised, understood and supported. Bringing pupils together for shared experiences like this helped to reduce isolation and celebrate their resilience.
We’re grateful to We The Curious and the SS Great Britain for helping make this possible and for their ongoing commitment to supporting young carers in our community.
