Carers Support Centre Bristol and South Gloucestershire welcomed Sir Stephen Timms, Minister of State in the Department for Works and Pensions, on Carers Rights Day, Thursday 21 November, to discuss the vital role of caregivers in our community and the ongoing support services available to them.

BBC Radio Bristol’s ‘Carer Award’ winner – A heartfelt interview with Carina Andrews

Carina Andrews has been a dedicated advocate for carers for many years, devoting her time and energy to uplifting those who often go unheard. Her passion for supporting unpaid carers led to the creation of Invisible Army in 2019, a community interest company she co-founded with photographer Tina Gue. Together, they use the power of art to bring attention to the experiences and challenges faced by carers.

‘Caring for Others Without Losing Yourself’ Louise’s story as an adopted Black carer

Louise Ndibwirende (she/her) is a TEDx speaker, equality specialist, filmmaker and carer. During Carers Week this year, Louise posted a video on Instagram about her experience caring for her brother and the things that helped her cope. We were touched to hear her talk about the validation she received from talking to other carers at our support groups, and wanted to hear more. So we reached out to Louise and she responded with this beautiful article, in celebration of Black History Month.
