We’re pleased to announce the launch of three new monthly “Carers Time” groups for unpaid carers across Bristol — funded by Bristol Charities and delivered in partnership with Carers Support Bristol & South Gloucestershire. These friendly, welcoming sessions offer a chance to pause from caring, meet others who understand and feel part of a caring community.

We’re delighted to share that our Befriending and Connection Service has received generous funding from The Grateful Society and The Dolphin Society. This funding will help us reach more unpaid carers — especially those aged 55+ across Bristol and South Gloucestershire — offering friendly volunteer befrienders, regular support calls and peer connections so no carer has to face their role alone.

On Young Carers Action Day 2024, 54 young carers from across Bristol came together at The Station for creative workshops, wellbeing sessions, and direct conversations with decision‑makers — a day built to listen, uplift, and inspire change.

For Carers Active April - The Chipping Sodbury Walk & Talk group started as a six‑week led series and quickly grew into a fortnightly peer‑support meeting where carers walk, chat and visit a café together. What began as outings now offers ongoing friendship, emotional support and a sense of belonging in the midst of caring.

We’re excited to introduce new Walk & Talk groups tailored for LGBTQ+ carers and young adult carers, and to host a special event during World Mental Health Week. It’s a gentle, supportive way to connect, move, and share — in a space where you’re seen and understood.

On Saturday 22 March, the Lamplight Procession in Bristol will light up the city as carers, allies and communities walk together in solidarity. Lanterns, placards, live performances and collective voice will raise awareness for care and stand for carers being seen, valued and supported.
